Classroom Rules:
Respect Yourself and Each Other
Think before you act
Try your best
Don't give up because something is hard
Don't be too hard on yourself
Encourage each other - all the time
When you see someone in need, help them
Use manners- especially in the lunchroom
**These rules also apply on the school bus, in the cafeteria, at specials, in the library, and on the playground.
Other Important Announcements
Students must be dropped off in the designated car rider route. DO NOT drop your child off in front of the office. If you choose to drop them off there, you must walk them to the sidewalk.
Parents that eat lunch with their children must sign in at the office. Lunch with your child is limited to once per week. Please send a note the day you will be eating lunch with your child so I can forward to the office. This year a note that morning is required per Mrs. Cook.
If your child is going home on a different bus, you must send a note everyday.
If your child is normally a bus rider, but they are going to be a car rider, you must send a note.
Do not text me with bus information as I do not check my phone until after school.
In an emergency and you do not have a note, call the office. This is limited to 3 emergencies a year.
Birthday party invitations- If your child is having a birthday party and they only want certain kids to go, they have to distribute them at recess. I will only allow invitations passed out in class if the entire class is invited.
Birthday celebrations - You may bring in a snack (cake, cupcakes, donuts, etc) and we will sing and celebrate. Please let me know if you are bringing something and I will let you know the best time that fits our schedule. You are welcome to be there to celebrate, but if you are unable you can drop off any goodies at the main office.
Parent Helpers
I love parent helpers! If you want to help in our classroom with class parties or other activities, please let me know. I have all kinds of tasks that I could use help with - bulletin board decorating, door decorating, organizing books, and lots of other classroom tasks. If you want to come in regularly, you will have to sign up as a parent volunteer at the board of education office. If you just want to come in occasionally, you do not have to sign up. Important: You are not allowed as a parent volunteer to grade papers, view other students grades, or anything that is personal information to students as you would not want another parent having access to your child's personal information.
Electronics
We have reward days where students are allowed to bring in electronics. I will send home a permission form and it will be written on their agenda. If it is not in the agenda, it is not an electronic day and your child should leave their electronics at home. On reward days, the school is not responsible for any lost or broken electronics.
Cell phones - Students may bring their cell phone, but it has to be kept in their book bag, turned off. No texting and learning!
Chrome Books
Each student in our class will have a Chrome Book ( small laptop). Students that abuse their privilege to use the Chrome Book will be sent to the office for discipline. Students do not take these home. If a chrome book comes home, it is considered stolen property.
Snacks
We sell snacks in class. The money collected from snack sales goes toward our end of the year activities, field trips, and other materials for our students. Prices range from .50 to 1.00. You do not have to purchase a school snack. Your child can bring their own snack. No candy bars, candy, or anything that is going to make me want to pull my hair out. Chips, crackers, fruit, pretzels are some examples of snacks that I can handle. Students can also bring a water bottle to keep at their desk during the day. If they want the water powder mixes, they can drink that ONLY at recess.
Extra Clothes
Please send in extra seasonal clothes. We have a clothes closet for accidents, spills, etc, but I can't guarantee we have their size. Bring an extra set just to have in their locker including socks and underwear in case it is needed. This will save you a trip to the school to bring clothes.
Shoes
I know it is summer and everyone is wearing flip flops, but please do not send your kids in flip flops. We do lots of physical movement inside the classroom and outside. These flip flops break and are not safe for school. Students can leave a pair of sneakers in their locker.
Conferences
I will be available to conference with you Monday - Friday from 9:20 - 10:05. If you have any concerns, please schedule a conference with me. I can also do a phone conference if you are unable to meet at school. Your child's education is important to me and any concerns you are having, please bring to my attention. If I see any concerns, I will make arrangements to conference with you.
Lastly, I am human and I make mistakes sometimes. If something comes up that you feel needs attention, please let me know. I like to have great relationships with my students' parents because I feel that it best serves the child. I want to make this year great for your child and for your family. Know that I will love your child and do my best to be the best teacher I can be. If I have to call you regarding your child's behavior, please know that I am not picking on your child, I am only trying to make you aware so we can work together to resolve any issues before they become bigger issues. I give grace in my classroom and I hope you will give me grace also.
